Cole Hall is a young composer currently studying at Michigan State University for Bachelors in Composition and Performance in French Horn. Cole’s musical style centers around presenting introspective narratives of his personal life, including all of the emotional ups and downs of life’s journey.

Cole aims to work as close as possible with the performers of each of his pieces, including the founding and organization of a Brass and Wind quintet at Holt High School to perform his first works.

During the spring of 2024, Cole attended Western Michigan’s Horn Day with James Naigus, and the Kevin Day Honors Band, working with both of the notable composers.

During the summer of 2024, Cole attended the Imani Winds Chamber Music Festival. At the festival, he worked closely with the Imani Winds members, Jessica Meyers as the Composer in residence, and Valerie Coleman as a Masterclass instructor. Then during the summer of 2025, Cole attended the Young Composer Program at the Cleveland Institutes of Music. There, he worked with Jessie Montgomery in private lessons as well as the faculty at CIM.

Cole now spends his time preparing new works with his teacher, Dr. Zhou.
